Mother's Day

Mother's Day is a day to Pamper your Mom, and what better way to pamper her than cooking for her and giving her a fresh bouquet of flowers to last her the week.

I suggest you start off with calling your local florist and ordering a fresh arrangement of flowers to adorn the dinning room table ahead of time.  You can have this delivered early so she can enjoy them a little longer.

She will love the smell and look of the fresh spring colors and know you thought about her ahead of time.

Then you can lay it on thick by cooking for her on Mother's Day!  Any mother will be sure to love nice homemade cook food .  They are always cooking for us all year why not cook for them on Mother's Day.

Here is just a small recipe you might like to try out...

Vanilla French Toast

  • 4 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup half-and-half or light cream
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 8 slices dry white or whole wheat bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter or vegetable oil
  • Maple-flavored syrup
  • Sliced bananas (optional)
    1. In a shallow bowl, beat together eggs, half-and-half, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. Dip bread slices into egg mixture, coating both sides.
    2. In a very large skillet or on a griddle, melt 1 tablespoon of the butter over medium heat. Add half of the bread slices and cook for 4 to 6 minutes or until golden, turning once. Repeat with remaining bread slices and the remaining butter. Serve with maple syrup and sliced bananas.
